December Update
Well we still haven’t got heat – and its been down to 8 degrees at night. I’ve been running space heaters in the kitchens and bathrooms to keep the pipes warm. Why don’t we have heat? Well, my (ahem) contractor has been working on other things that he thought were more important, like elk hunting.
To be fair, I want the new gas heater in the log house to sit on a tile hearth and my sister and I just finished the tiling a few days ago. The other house has a furnace that needs new vents and the vent size is not easily found around here, so Sean has had to wait for that to come in … I think.
He’s promised to finish the installing vents and heater this week.
We did buy on-demand electric hot water heaters for both houses and had an electrician install those. So we do have hot water!
And Sean did get an elk.

This is a photo of what the new heater will look like.
Hey that shed had no screens – I had actual glass windows. Two of them! It was high living, I tell you. And there was a wood burning stove so it was warmer than this Wyoming log house has been.
Well, for a woman who lived in a screened shed in Alaska during salmon season (and had to chase off the bear who had been living there during the winter) this must seem like total luxury!
